Fluent in all forms of music such as jazz, funk, reggae, pop, rock, and gospel. Lon Whitfield’s travels have taken him to such places as Marrakech Morocco, Helsinki Finland, and the Caribbean with such notables as former President Clinton, Elton John, Black-Eyed Peas, The Late Pearl Bailey, Sting, Chris Boti, Sonny Rollins, Buster Williams, Reggie Woods, Lafayette Harris Jr. Rev. Milton Biggam of Malico Records and many others.

From the first note produced by this marvelous singer/musician/writer/producer, you will agree that he has the Midas touch. Since the age of 4, Lon Calvin Whitfield has been an entertainer and promised to set the standard for 2021. Born in Southern Virginia, Calvin grew up in a household of Gospel music. Calvin’s grandmother was instrumental in writing such songs as “Uncloudy Day” and “Let Jesus Lead You”. With all this positive music in his household, Lon Calvin Whitfield absorbed the inspiration and talent at an early age that he needed to be an innovator in the competitive music industry. While completing his early education, Rock, as he is affectionately called, made a name for himself from the age of 6 in talent shows consistently coming out in the first place with his gifted vocal ability.
Lon Calvin Whitfield’s musical career became official upon coming to New York to attend Brooklyn College where he majored in music and classical guitar. There he received his formal training in college while performing in clubs, churches, as well as studio sessions for such notables as Pearl Bailey, Harry Bellefonte, and Jimmy Seigler. Calvin also expanded upon his experience making a name for himself as a jazz bassist, performing with such notables as Winton Marsalis, Kenny Kirkland, and Buster Williams. While earning a living as a respected musician, Calvin was asked to sing on several off-Broadway productions such as “Sister Salvation” and “Yesterday Meets Today” making his official entrance in the music industry as a lead vocalist performing artist.
After two successful off-Broadway productions, Calvin decided to turn his attention to his first love–performing R&B and Gospel music. Subsequently, Calvin met the famous recording artist “Al Green” and spent 2 years performing with him in the early stages of his career. While working with Mr. Green, Calvin continued to hold on to his roots in gospel working with such groups as The Winans, The Hawkins Family, and Dannabelle Hall, and producing his first solo album “Can’t Get Enough.” After working with many groups Calvin landed a contract with Entertainment Enterprises of Hartford, Connecticut, as a lead singer and member of the R&B group “Two Plus Two,” recording their hit “Show You.”, Finally Lon Calvin Whitfield has released over 9 CD’s with the most recent titled “Daybreak Piano In Heaven Vol. II.”
